Location: Ellijay, GA
Ellijay is at a higher elevation in Georgia, so flat land comes at a premium. In an effort to “do the best with what they have”, Gilmer Co High School decided to combine their softball and baseball fields into one, on the existing natural turf baseball field. This would create space elsewhere on campus for other sports. The choice to go with synthetic turf was also key for durability, less canceled game days and practice times, and ease of maintenance for such a high traffic field. The team at Gilmer Co High were very gracious to spend some time with us discussing their new field and their “why” behind the renovation.
