Fullers Park,
Marietta, Georgia

Working with Cobb County Parks and Recreation and the Board of Education using SPLOST dollars for lacrosse and baseball, ASG built a new multi-use field at Fullers Park. Despite challenging weather setbacks and other “acts of nature” we were able to work with our partners at Shaw Sports Turf to finish the project on schedule and in time for baseball season! We worked closely with the team at Atlas and Cobb County and are grateful for our partnership with folks like Howard Bach:

Mount Paran Christian School,
Kennesaw, Georgia

Mount Paran has been a valued repeat customer of ASG’s for years. In 2020/2021 we were honored to build both a multi-use lacrosse and football practice field and a brand new varsity baseball field for them. Situated in the heart of Kennesaw, GA, a rapidly growing suburb of Atlanta, Mount Paran has limited space to work with on their campus and makes good use of their square footage. Shaw Sports Turf installed 106,000 sq ft + of Legion Pro product to the multi-use field and over 100,000 sq ft of Legion HP and TruHop to the brand new baseball field. Working with Mount Paran is a wonderful experience and we are grateful for the kinds words they shared with us after the installations:

Morgan Falls Baseball Complex,
City of Sandy Springs, Georgia

Used primarily by Sandy Springs Youth Sports, a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization serving over 850 children in the Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Roswell communities, the Morgan Falls Athletic Complex consists of multiple baseball/softball fields and a multi-use football and lacrosse field. In an effort to combat rain delays and other weather-related troubles for the complex, ASG presented a solution to replace the baseball infields of fields 1-4 with TruHop from Shaw Sports Turf and field 5 with a combination of TruHop and Momentum turf. Often this option allows the client to make large change on a smaller budget and results in a faster transformation. Michael Cohen, of the Sandy Springs Youth Sports Executive Board, shares his experience with Advanced Sports Group on the project at Morgan Falls:

Samuel U Braly Soccer Complex, Paulding County Parks & Recreation, Dallas, Georgia

Two multi-use fields were designed and built with a wide variety of athletes in mind. Paulding County’s Parks and Recreation department provides recreational and select soccer leagues for boys and girls about 45 minutes North of Atlanta. This complex is also home to several recreational lacrosse teams. Due to the mixed use of the fields, Paulding County chose Shaw Sports Turf’s Momentum sports turf. This is the second project that Advanced Sports Group has completed for the county’s parks and rec department. Let’s hear what Mr. Michael Justus, Director, had to say:

North Atlanta High practice field, Atlanta, Georgia

As the home field for Northside Youth Lacrosse, North Atlanta High and NSYLAX partnered together to turf the field, choosing Legion HP 2.0, a dual fiber turf by Shaw Sports Turf. Combining two fibers into one hybrid product offers the best aspect of each—slit film’s durability and monofilament’s natural aesthetic. This field is unique in that it will be used by many sports for many different needs and we at ASG ensured that the product chosen will be durable, easily maintained and perfect for all of its intended uses. We are looking forward to partnering with North Atlanta High again in the future!

Burnt Hickory Park, Adaptive Play Turf Field, Dallas, Georgia

In anticipation of the field completion, leadership from the Parks and Rec department published this video, and Michael Justus, Paulding County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs, had this to say about working with Advanced Sports Group and Shaw Sports Turf:

“We were looking for a way to get our adaptive/special needs population active and learning sports. Regular grassed playing surfaces with red dirt infields were not going to be the answer. After speaking with Shaw Sports Turf and ASG, looking at wheelchair testing done on the materials and the introduction of the Brock pad, we were sold on this as our next playing surface. Safety for all playing groups, especially this one, was of the utmost importance. Our kids are absolutely loving this new field.”

The first synthetic turf field in Paulding County’s park system “brings another level” to offerings for the special needs population. With less maintenance cost and more durability, Paulding County can now offer a safer alternative playing location for their new non-competitive Trailblazer baseball league. ASG was honored to be a part of their Opening Day and First Pitch ceremonies! We are looking forward to providing this type of field for other communities in the Southeast too, including one up the road in Bartow County, Georgia. We are passionate about providing a quality product and investing in relationships within each and every community where we work.

Wellspring Tiny House Community, Atlanta, Georgia

Wellspring Living has been serving survivors of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation since 2001. They are devoted to safeguarding and empowering domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk to develop the courage to move forward and the confidence to succeed. Through life-giving residential and community-based programs, girls and young women are provided the opportunity to live and dream again.

The tiny house community is the next phase in Wellspring’s mission in the Atlanta area, providing a 3-year extended transitional phase for women who have graduated from the 18- month rehabilitation program. Residents are charged a very low-cost rent for each home, with a portion of each month’s rent added to a personal savings account that will be gifted to the resident at the end of the term. The grouping of 9 individual homes includes a large community center, playground, gated entry access, private patios and fire pit. Over 3000 volunteers, 80 companies and 30 churches have come together to make this outreach possible. Advanced Sports Group is honored to have played a part in the construction of this life-giving community.

Paul Kirby, Pastor of LifeBridge Church:

“Advanced Sports Group’s help has been instrumental with the fine-tune grading out here because these houses are so tight together that we are really worried about issues with water ponding up between them. So to have someone out here with the expertise to fine tune the grade, within such a super precision, has been fantastic. The crew member who actually came out to do the Bobcat work is probably one of the best operators I’ve ever seen, and I’ve dealt with a lot of operators before. ASG was definitely critical to the success out here.”

Adairsville High School, Adairsville, Georgia

Given the opportunity to provide the 3 high schools in Bartow County with new turf football fields, Advanced Sports Group was faced with a tight timeline. Traditionally, graduation exercises are held on the football fields to accommodate a larger audience. While the school system did not expect nor require the completion by graduation day, ASG and Shaw Sports Turf worked hard to exceed expectations and deliver a beautiful field, for seniors and family alike, to enjoy and just in time.

Bruce Mulkey, Adairsville High School Principal, said, “Thank you for putting in all the extra time and effort to meet our timeline. Graduation could not have gone better!”

The community and school officials shared their excitement in adding 3 new synthetic turf fields in a recent local news article. With a decrease in maintenance costs, water savings, reduction in pollution and pesticide use, and a better all-around playing experience for athletes, the school system is already thrilled with the one field at Adairsville. Cass High and Woodland High will be completed within the summer.

The use of Legion HP turf will provide a safer playing experience for the student athletes, with fewer rainouts and better ball roll, while looking more like real grass.
