Project Description

Newly named Cox Road Athletic Complex is attributable to the late Philip Broome, and others, who have left behind a “legacy”, positively impacting athletes and programs in the city of Milton. The naming of the park was a result of a city-wide initiative, giving citizens a leading role in selecting names that resonate with visitors, make sense for a particular space and reflect the town’s values.

Renovations took approximately 3 months to complete and included excavation of the existing two full-sized natural turf fields, installation of Shaw Sports Turf with an extensive line package, irrigation, and fencing. The new multi-use fields will be home to community lacrosse, football, soccer, softball and baseball teams.

A local company originally built this complex in the early 1980s so that its soccer teams would have somewhere to play. It then passed through several soccer clubs before the city of Milton purchased the 8-acre complex in January 2020. “And by investing in these fields, the City is committed to leaving a positive legacy by creating a space that athletes can enjoy for decades to come,” said Tom McKlveen, Parks and Recreation Director.
